I think the idea behind this is that the cult is seen as justified and white-washed from above, because it is per axiom "God's ministry." So if a cult leaders does something, it is a completely different from the situation when an non member does the same. The basic underlying mindset is "quod licet iovi, non licet bovi."

Another interesting observation is that while inoffically, many UBF members admit that Samuel Lee was pretty problematic, I have never seen this admitted or mentioned in any official publication, like the recent article series in the Kukmin newspapers.
