hi,
not to mention ubf in their concerts is understandable due to the fact that they took much damage regarding their image throughout the last years. it's bad enough, though.
but i think the worst thing is that they don't even mention the name of God in their whole orchestra thing. if you take a look at their homepage (www.ismf.org), not a songle word of honouring God or something is written there. that's the most important thing which makes me curious.
and of course, i have the same opninion as you do: i'm a korean myself and of course i love my country as you all love yours. but it has nothing to do with "mission" to use a whole chapter to propagate just the korean culture in the name of "cultural education".
i think the main problem is that many leaders don't check peter chang's method. it's quite obvious that he wants to establish himself as a musical director but i think in official ubf meetings he emphasizes that this way he could win more coworkers. a questionable method i think.
somebody here said that he doubts that ismf would have success. i, in the opposite, think that they already HAVE success. of course, to real musicians it's clear that they are amateurs. but actually they introduce themselves als amateurs and actually for amateurs they're quite good because they are forced to practice a lot. and for laymans they seem to be above-average because, you know, body-motion while playing makes a good impression to the less-experienced audition.
