In Germany, it was similar. We had to pay a "Daily Bread membership" which was pretty high, something like 100 Mark every year. It was clear that much more money was collected than the production actually costed. This was one small side-issue of the reformers. I think the German members who were in charge for distributing the Daily Bread even admitted the problem and changed the system and made their own, separate Daily Bread bookkeeping, so that currently I think it is not an issue any more.

I think the whole issue od Daily Bread finances is only a very small thing compared to the other financial issues. The Daily Bread "membership fee" was high, but compared to my other offerings and costs in the context of UBF, it was "peanuts." Also, I think the biggest problem of Daily Bread is not its price, but the subtle manipulation by subtly interpreting every passage of the Bible every day for you according to the UBF party line. It is one of the major instruments of manipulation in UBF. Particularly the women missionaries use it very diligently and get all their Bible interpretations that they do not get from UBF sunday messages, from the Daily Bread booklet.
