How can anybody force you to do something you dont want to do?

The answer is mind control. Once you started to believe your leader is "the servant of God" who is telling you what God wants of you, how could you not obey him even when he demands something of you that you don't want to do? In obedience towards God, it does not count what you want to do or what you do not want to do. And once they have reached the point where you equated obedience towards God with obedience towards leaders, they have got you. Maybe they haven't got you to this point (yet). I and many others have been at that point, and there are enough members in UBF who still have this belief. You say you think outside the box. But there are enough members who cannot think outside the box.

There are many other aspects of mind control. For instance, Samuel Lee implanted the idea into his members that if they leave or disobey him, they will experience a horrible accident and only if they obey and cowork they will be blessed. Sorry to say, but people in UBF believe this. It is their fundamental belief that UBF is in a magical way connected with God, that it is God's ministry, and that its leaders are God's servants.

You know very well that UBF aims at creating these very beliefs in the minds of its members. If you are somebody who can resist and think out of the box despite such a manipulative environment, congratulations. I know there are a few people like you in UBF, people who are simply not susceptible to mind control. There are also outsiders who simply cannot imagine that they could ever become the prey of a cult and manipulated, having a strong belief in the free will of individuals. For such people it is very hard to understand the core of the problems. Also, UBF leaders are very aware of how far they can go with challenging people. In your case, they probably know that they cannot go so far (yet). But it is only a matter of time. In my case, the worst abuse happened only after 10 years, when the leader kind of kidnapped my fiance shortly before the marriage to prevent it.
