Sam Lee, Ron Ward and a few others have had run-ins with the Law or have spent a night or two in jail due to their UBF activities.

And here, we're not talking "persecuted because of Christ", but rather, "persecuted because of assault, molestation or criminal activity". And no, in America, preaching the Gospel is not a "criminal activity".

By the way, this kind of behaviour is coming from people who are so quick and bold to pull Romans13:1 and 13:4 in order to ask people to submit to their own "spiritual authority".
Forgetting to quote 13:5 and 6:
Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing

Verse 6 should make it obvious that Paul doesn't speak about "spiritual authorities" here, do you pay tax to "Sam Lee" or to "Uncle Sam"?
