While in ubf, did not have much of a chance to talk with him. But when I began to decide how to get out of ubf, I called him several times. I can tell you that basically he got out because ubf was dividing his family, in a way.

He said that he was spending all his time and energy doing his research, and then after that doing the ubf untill late at night. He was also a separate chapter, trying to do everything by himself. Most ubfKoreans go out in teams because it is much easier. But EE wanted Rimas to do it all by himself.

Anyway, his lovely wife began to have a sense of the problem that there was no family life. She may have been feeling distraught about the fact that they had no fmily life, and she began to attend a reputable church that is affiliated with Andy Stanley minsitries. Andy is a son of Dr. Charles Stanley.

As she attended this healthy church, her sadness went away and she was truly happy. Rimas could not understand what was happening, so they began to discuss the family situtation. He decided to attend the healthy church secretly, and after several weeks he could see the problems of ubf clearly. He immediately dropped all ubf activities. He went so far as to contact all his former sheeps in Washington. Rimas had recruited more people into Washington than anybody. After a short time, all of those recruits left the ubf. When you finally see what the ubf is really doing, then you can leave in a heartbeat.

There is an article from Johns Hopkins student newspaper that covers the time Rimas was there and in ubf. It also exposes the troubled lives of ubf families, esp. for Americans. It is here at:

Rimas was willing to talk about ubf privately several years ago, but not sure if he will now. You can google search him. God bless you all.
