I don't agree with marriage by faith, or at least the concept in UBF. I know for a fact that this won't be happening for me, even though I'm a second gen and I've clearly stated this to my parents.

Indeed, even though I'm not a 2nd gen or such, when I first attended one of these "marriages by faith", I sent a long letter to my "spiritual parents" (whom I had been living with as a teen for a year) explaining the situation to them, and they not only fully agreed with me but even went further to explain to me the biblical purpose of marriage, "becoming one flesh" according to Ephesians, and it became 100% clear to me that marriage is the highest, most intimate love relationship that two human beings can have with one another, being bested only by the relationship between Christ and the Church, i.e. all believers in Christ.
It's totally unfitting to have a "God and Mission centered house church" instead of a family, because like that we will find it very hard to realize that we are living out in miniature what Christ is living out with humanity.

One thing I found so horrible about "God and Mission centered". Assuming that God is not equal to UBF mission, you are talking about a circle with two not equifocal centers, which will -geometrically speaking: impossibly succeed.
As such, as long as you are doing what UBF tells you they expect from your marriage, you are DOOMED to fail in your marriage, giving you only 1 options: remove one of the centers, concentrating on one focus.
Of course, what we end up is either throwing God out of the window or UBF style "mission".
Those who make a choice in Spirit and in prayer, will not choose to throw God out of the window.
And then, there is only one problem: both marriage partners need to decide in the same way, or the marriage will be broken.

But you see, if you take UBF's doctrine on marriage, you WILL get into an irresoluble conflict as you adhere to their teachings.

In Christ,
Mike K.
