From another discussion board about another group:
The issue doesn't stop with the history of the group. If it were just a matter of the history, and they had been willing to repent, I would be among the first to embrace them. But the history is indicative of a serious problem that never was addressed.
The real issue is, that the same leadership which covered up the sins then, and shunned faithful brothers who would have sounded the alarm, are firmly in control of the the leader today. They are the ones saying, "let’s just forget the past, and move on."
Well, if their faithfulness to a single man would have them overlook unrighteousness then, and choose the favor of that one man over God’s favor, without repentance, then we can only conclude that their faithfulness to that one man’s ministry today has replaced any thought of genuine faithfulness to the Lord.
But the group's defenders will always use the, “he that is without sin” argument. It’s a smoke screen to divert our attention from the real issue.
Does this sound familiar?
This is the problem you seem to get in any one-person centered authoritarian church!
