Subject: Fundamental reason for opposing UBF
In reply to: Nick T. 's message, "There are many types of opposition to ubf" on 16:13:32 07/26/04 Mon

The cult commissar in Germany is one example of someone who opposes ubf for their bad teachnig and their abusive ways.

I think Andrew Schaefer boiled down the fundamental problem why UBF is opposed by nearly everyone outside the group in one sentence:

"They show an open disrespect for human dignity."

In all stages can you see this:
- when they're "fishing" for you, they don't care whether you like or you feel embarassed or offended, they'll hang on to you because they have their numbers goal to fulfill. A simple "no" is often not accepted. They don't respect your right of free choice.

- when you're just new in the group, your secret heart-concerns are made the issues of prayer chains, and you might find out that someone in a Koeran chapter knows more about your "sin problem" than you'd even tell your own mom! They don't respect your right for privacy.

- when you're a shepherd, you're rarely allowed to learn from mistakes, rather, you're expected to "get trained" in all aspects. They don't respect your personal relationship with God.

- when they speak about other religions (or even science) in their messages, they display an obvious disdain for everything that isn't "the UBF way". And they appreciate things which they somehow can fit into the UBF pattern, even if in reality there's a totally different background. They don't respect other religions.

- when they come to a new country, they'll keep up all Korean habits and even want to make the new recruits accept these habits. They don't respect other cultures while in turn asking YOU to respect THEIR culture.

- in a family, being positive towards UBF is more important than the happiness of the relationship. They don't respect the holiness of marriage.

All these things make up some of what makes us human beings, and UBF just doesn't respect these things. They always push, shove and force us to accept what they present to us, but aren't willing to move an inch when something gets in THEIR way.

In most societies, the basic value of human dignity is accepted - not so in UBF.

In Christ,
Mike K.
