Here is Karcher's rational for not responding to the NAE and the questions surrounding the evidence for abuse:
18. Why do you think no defense was given to the NAE?
Matthew 27:11-14 "11 Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, 'Are you the king of the Jews?' 'Yes, it is as you say,' Jesus replied. 12 When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer. 13 Then Pilate asked him, 'Don't you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?' 14 But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge--to the great amazement of the governor." (NIV)
So, UBF is the sinless Jesus who is being crucified by the NAE and the former members. The difference is that Jesus really was sinless and in fact did nothing wrong. UBF and the people who run it are sinners who need to confess and repent of their sins.
Proverbs 28:13
"He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy."
1 John 1:8-10
"If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives."
