I remember a UBF conference in Moscow where the American journey team practiced "Shine Jesus Shine" the whole night long. They had already practiced it in America. They had practiced it during the day. Yet, they had to practice it the whole night, too. The next day they performed the song with dark rings under their eyes. It was probably worse than if they hadn't practiced at all.

Another remembrance from a conference in Germany: After the conference, Kaleb Hong had us have a "post conference meeting" where we had to tell our impressions and were encouraged to tell which things could be improved. One young, naive shepherdess (she left UBF long ago) told us very frankly and naively her opinion: "I thought the sogam sharing session was somewhat boring." Guess what happened. Of course there was a storm of protest by Hong, she was blamed, called unspiritual, rebuked etc. If you think a sogam sharing session is boring, then something is wrong with you by definition of UBF. You also quickly learn not to speak out your real thoughts. In this sense, UBF is something like a training camp for hypocrites.

From then on, the post conference meetings consisted only in reporting about the indoctrination progress of the sheep through the conference.
