I liked Karate Kid I and II. I thought that III was too outrageous. I always enjoy the 'underdog overcomes adversity and defeats his enemy and gets the girl' movies. I did not post because I wanted to debate quality of the movies mentioned, but because I can see similarities between the Karate Kid trilogy and UBF, which might be why Samuel Lee liked The Karate Kid.

The Karate Kid (an American) was having many problems with bullies and girls until he meets his teacher (an Asian). For anyone of you who has watched The Karate Kid, the karate teacher reminds me of some Korean UBF leaders, even though the character is from Japan and I think the actor is from China. The kid asks the teacher to train him in karate. The teacher directs the kid to obey his every direction. The teacher becomes a father figure for the kid. When the kid obeys the teacher despite much adversity, he defeats his adversaries and gets the girl. In the third movie, the kid is so thankful for all that the teacher has done, he gives the money he was planning to use to go to college so the teacher can open up a bonzi tree store.

The lesson from the Karate Kid trilogy: Obey your teacher's every direction and you will have victory over your adversaries and win the girl of your dreams. Also, show thankfulness by donating an offering to your teacher.

The application to UBF: Obey your shepherd's every direction and you will have victory over sin and Satan and marry a great woman of faith. Also, show thankfulness by donating a sizable special offering to the chapter and by purchasing expensive gifts for your shepherd.

In Christ,

PECAS
