Subject: Several miles away from the frantically running beings...

Egnaro and Parat, the fastest Korats, near the area where the roar was heard. Malf, Julo, Tasahk, and Jisz aren't far behind, with the Heifia pack trailing them. However, the race isn't the center of the plot at the moment...

Another bellowing roar erupts from a red-furred throat, and blazing blue eyes glare at those around the big Korat. "Come get me, scum-blooded cowards!" Redwood shouts, though thick chains binding her limbs and tail prevent her from charging those who would keep her there. Links nearly four inches wide jangle as the Original lunges as far as she can, snapping powerful jaws as though to taunt her enemies. A sinuous slithering brings a Dragon-Snake, easily two hundred feet long, into the dark clearing. Lllight the firrre. It issss timmmme. Obediantly, demons scurry around with bundles of dead branches, piling them into a heap in the center of the area. Claw-demons sharpen their deadly claws, sending sparks into the dry grass and soon a bonfire is roaring.

Redwood snarls, the sound thick with hate. Her chains may weigh twice as much as she, but as a Spiralla digs up the stakes from the ground, she springs forward. The far bigger beast starts to leap backwards, but the Korat's jaws clamp around his neck and rip his throat out. Though lack of food weakens her none, she's starving and her stomach desperately needs sustenance. And so she gulps down shreds and slabs of bloody flesh as demons coax the flames higher. NNNOW! A crimson muzzle snaps up as one or two brave Spirallas and several Raptors leap forward, eager to drag the red to her death. Ears slicking back to a broad skull, lips curl and Redwood roars again. Hampered by her heavy chains, nonetheless she slaughters both Spirallas before getting thrown by a Raptor's powerful kick. -I HATE THESE CREATURES!- she bellows in Koratian, the sound loud enough to reach anyone running towards her.

A sharp, high-pitched howl answers as Egnaro bursts through the edge of the forest. Redwood, jaws clamped around a Raptor's neck, flicks her ears in surprise as the tan joins the battle, slaying with reckless abandon. Seconds later, Parat flings herself into the fray, though the femme has not the skills of her brother. After a flurry of blood and jaws, the Raptors back off and leave two panting tans guarding their Original. -Egnaro, Parat.- Redwood's voice is fiercely pleased. -I don't suppose you can get these dyone'd chains off me?- Parat smiles briefly. -Of course.- She sets to work at sawing at the chains with her razor-sharp claws, while the Raptors begin their ritualistic circling. -They'll attack soon.- Egnaro's voice is emotionless to the non-Koratian ear, but Redwood and Parat can detect the battle-lust. The red female replies, laughing heartily as her tail is freed, -Let them come. I am ready.- Parat, eyes shining, can't help but be amused at the red's cockiness as she attempts to free Redwood's legs.
