Tar leads the group agilely towards the shadowed forest as dusk falls on Lavana, darkening the skies to dusty violet and tinging the clouds red. The earth-coloured Jine slows, then stops, bristling defensively. Low growls rumble from the long grasses ahead, and the Lavanian returns the hostile sound. Figures, she mutters in her native tongue. Recognizing the tone of the voices spread out before her, the femme snarls loudly, baring ivory fangs. Switching to Koratian, she calls out, -Let us pass.- A slight rise in volume to the growls is the only response for a moment.

Then, dim shapes become visible as the sun's dying rays pierce the long blades of beadgrass. Slinking or simply stalking forward, the canine attributes were immediately visible, almost as a link between the two species Tar now faces. Taller Korats mingle with burly Heifias, seeming like old friends in this face to a new intrusion. Only six Korats, though, the Jine growls to herself, spotting one red male, two black males, a black female, and a male, then female tan. However, their small numbers were buoyed by the ten or so shaggy Heifias, all of impressive size for their species, and all, of course, male. Doesn't matter. I have, what, five with me? Her hatred for Korats surges within, and the wolfish beast struggles to not rush forward and battle with one.

The mixed group of Korats and Heifias spreads out in a crescent shape, facing the strangers. The red male replies, also in Koratian, -I think not, Taryu Ajhenhoff. We have scores to settle with you and yours.- Golden eyes widen as Tar recognizes the red male, and one of the blacks, as the only other survivors of an old battle. The Jine spits, -Too bad. They aren't mine.- Such blatant disowning of a group seems to surprise the Korats, and even a few Heifias deepen their growls disapprovingly. -Not even Lavanians,- she adds scornfully, before stepping forward, for once raising her head higher than her shoulders. -But if you want me... come and get me.- The big red snarls and lashes his heavy tail behind him, the thick blade tipping it shining dully as it catches the first light of a moon.

The Jine and the group stand still, waiting for the other to make a move. One Heifia growls to the red, using his native tongue. |If she disowns the group, they may be innocent. Jines are well-known to lead foreigners astray.| The red tilts his broad head, deep brown orbs considering, before he nods. |Then talk to them, and we shall see if they are truly not with her, or if she is simply trying to save their miserable hides.| The biggest Heifia, standing at an impressive five feet, steps a few feet beyond the still-rumbling beasts. "Who are you, and why are you with this Jine?" he asks flatly, his voice deep and rugged in pronunciation of Kalash. Tar's ears pin back further. -I told you they aren't mine.- The red Korat laughs thunderously, malice underlying his dry mirth. -And we should believe you?-
