In reply to: Waiting for Mercedes! 's message, "Isn't it time for another FABULOUS message for our Queen here, the lovely Mercedes? Please post again! Doris may be a nice lady but, unfortunately, she is always either boring or angry." on Fri, January 18, 2008 8:43:22

Thanks to whoever wrote this. It's cool to think I'm a Queen, but I'll just stay a "peasant". I'm more of a "beer and pretzel" kind of girl; not a "champagne and caviar" diva.

I'm kind of surprised that someone wants me to post a message, since when I usually post a message only Peggy responds, so I figured maybe just Peggy and Dukie were interested in reading my posts.

Well, before I write a comment, I just want to let everyone know I won't be here next weekend. My son, my husband and I will be leaving for Houston (again) this Friday. My father-in-law is getting married this coming Sunday, and now I'm the maid (matron) of honor for his fiancee. She was my maid of honor last month. Plus, my husband's birthday is on Monday the 28th, and he wants to spend it in Houston, catching up on what's happening with his brothers and sisters. Ever since his mom died in November 2006, his family is finally starting to talk to each other again. His mother made a lot of people angry with her and with each other--that's why there were only 6 of us at her funeral. I know that my husband has missed his brothers and sisters a lot, so I'll be staying with him and we'll be leaving Tuesday afternoon--then back to work on the 30th.

Now, about the OIL in Texas. I must admit, I've known a few fellows who work for Exxon-Mobil, for quite some time (I once worked at an Exxon gas station and got to know them when they would bring the gasoline trucks) and when I talk with them I usually give them a piece of my mind about the price of gasoline being so high. Anyway, I had read at another website that if ALL the capped OIL wells in Texas were to be opened up again, then the US of A would have enough OIL to last us 50 YEARS-without ever having to purchase another drop of OIL from the Middle East!!! Plus, there is another 25 years worth of OIL off the shores of the Gulf Coast, from Texas to Florida that will last at least 25 YEARS (no need to destroy the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge!). They told me that this is TRUE, but this would be "too easy" a solution to our OIL shortage and that Bush and his OIL buddies have every intention of staying in Iraq and taking the untapped Iraqi OIL (worth AT LEAST $30 TRILLION DOLLARS, yep, $30 TRILLION DOLLARS) even if the Iraqi Government NEVER signs the Hydrocarbon Law! They also said that they've heard rumors that Bush is going to try to start a war with Iran sometime in late summer, to start going after their OIL, too, because there are a LOT of new orders being filled for new pipelines to be used in the Middle East (MORE than enough for what is needed for Iraq). I have to sadly say that I believe what these fellows have told me is True.

Also, I'm very interested about all those e-mails that have supposedly been erased--more than 1 YEARS worth, that now are supposedly NOT erased. My guess is that the White House aides are now going through all the e-mails and throwing out and destroying the ones that Bush and Cheney don't want anyone to know about. Hopefully, the aides that have been leaking out info can have copies leaked out to the newspapers and news channels (those that won't be afraid to put the info out to US).

This whole White House nonsense makes me think that Bush, Cheney and the rest of them think that We the People are so stupid or ignorant that we don't need to know what they do and we don't need to know how they are destroying our US Constitution, because all we care about is "American Idol" and filling up our gas tanks. Well, they're in for a Rude Awakening when they find out that we're not as dumb as they think we are!

I'll be off tomorrow and we'll be going to SA to march in the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr March. There will be at least 100,000 of us, marching and listening to speeches about Civil Rights and the ongoing destruction of our US Constitution. I've been marching for the past 6 years, and I enjoy meeting up with friends and see what they've been doing during the past year. We also love to "dis" Bush and Cheney LOL!

Everyone take care. Now, no more bad jokes! Have a Safe and Happy Week!

Love,
Mercedes
