It was amusing to hear his full name being read out, considering it has hitherto been used against him.

I thought it was a good sign that he was nervous when it came to swearing in. Nervous people tend to be a little more conscientious but we'll see.

I will judge him by the speed he releases that Canadian boy who was found on the battlefield, shot in the back and then taken away to be tortured when it was realised that his father (who died before 9/11) knew Osama Bin Laden before being taken to Guantanamo, where he is still kept. I also hope to see him express disdain at the actions of the Israeli government as well as Hamas.

He questioned America's usual unwillingness to allow government to take on roles in the economy but was already suggesting cuts to some programmes. He did say that he will engage with people previously depicted as enemies though.
