Mercedes (I'm not feeling too good today--nothing serious, just a wicked sinus headache that seems to want to stick around for a bit longer than usual--so I'll only be posting a short note)

I haven't been able to keep up with much of the news this past week. I started feeling a bit sick with sinus pain on Tuesday and basically went to work, then back to my cousin's home in SA, then to bed. I may have to end up going to see the doctor if this thing doesn't go away by Tuesday.
Anyway, I do know that Sen. Levin, a Democrat, told the media that he has seen the classified documents that Cheney is always talking about and he said they have no definite proof that the waterboarding or any other 'enhanced interrogations' kept lives from being lost. He also called for all the documents, not just the ones Cheney wants declassified, to be allowed to be seen by the American people so we can decide for ourselves if Cheney is right or wrong.
I also am disappointed that so many newspeople from CNN and MSNBC (NOT including Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddow) have allowed Liz Cheney to take charge when they interview her about her father. Liz just keeps talking and talking the same message and the newspeople can't or won't even stop her and question why she is making her assumptions that everything her father did was legal and was good for our country. I even heard that on one interview that she said that anyone who wants her father prosecuted for his decisions should be sued for 'libelous statements' and that We the People should be Thanking her father, Bush and their administration for keeping us safe from another attack in the US. Now that woman has 'cojones'!
I also heard this morning that Pakistan is finally starting to go after the Taliban, but so many people have had to be evacuated from the Swat region and are now living in tents. I really think if the Taliban is stopped, life will be so much easier and safe for people there. I would also hope that somehow, someone will finally find either Osama bin Laden's grave if he's dead, or the man himself if he's still alive.
Good to hear from you, Teller!
You and Obitchecker have a good week. I'll let you know how I'm doing next weekend. I'll be leaving in a few minutes for SA so I can just relax, take my medicine and try to get rid of this headache so I can go to work tomorrow.
Love,
Mercedes
