I am so happy that it's Vacation time! I finished work on Friday, then the same routine--get some pizza and Sangria in San Antonio for home--watch Keith Olbermann on MSNBC at 7:00 pm, then relax and unwind and talk with the husband about the week and either watch a movie or turn in early...

Chato and his friends are on their way to New Mexico to get away from this terrible Heat. It's been really bad this year--almost every day it's been near or over 100 degrees. It's not supposed to be this hot so soon--the high is only supposed to be around 93 degrees. Just a few degrees hotter makes a big difference in feeling okay to feeling like you're in a Sauna. I dread to think about the months of July and August--more of the same--100+ degrees every day. Thanks be to God for Air Conditioning!

Wow, what a surprise with hearing about Michael Jackson's death. I would never have thought that he would die so young, but I always wondered about why he was so thin--either he was taking diet pills or he was working out too much--either way, he looked kind of sickly and pale for a very long time. It's too bad that there are so many people who are going to walk away from this mess without having to answer why they allowed Michael to use all those drugs. It's beginning to sound like Elvis Presley's death--too many "doctors" prescribing pills, instead of trying to get the person to face reality without having to take any medicines. Too many "yes" men who just cared about getting paid and not about the person who was paying them. Rest in Peace...

Well, Teller, I'll be leaving again in a few hours, just like every Sunday, but this time I'll be going to Houston instead of getting ready for work tomorrow. I am looking forward to seeing my husband's siblings and seeing how his late father's widow is doing. I'm just so happy that my husband's father had a little bit of true romance and love before he went to Heaven, after all those years of being married to a woman who was mean, harsh, selfish and didn't appreciate what she had. My husband and his siblings should not have had to grow up in such a messed up family, but I guess that's what happens when the wrong people are married to each other, and stay with each other, even if they end up hating each other and making life miserable for their family. I know that my first husband--a real jerk--gave me only one good thing--my wonderful son. But, after only a few years of marriage, when my ex started to hit me every night and then he filed for divorce so he could marry a rich woman, I got Chato and me out of there as fast as I could.

I hope everyone is doing well and Peggy and Barbara, I'm sure glad you're both back here. I had a chance to check out the Celebrity Obituaries board last night. Do I need a password to post messages? If I ever have enough time, I'm going to try to start reading that board. It's very interesting reading about people's lives. And of course, my husband likes to read about any of those 'cow' deaths. LOL

Well, I'll be getting ready to pack for the trip. I should be back some time early next week. El Viejo is going to be taking care of our cats and dogs. He's been doing just great and now has someone come to help him during the days--one of those nurses that comes and makes sure he takes his medicines and is eating. I wish I had more time to help him--but Chato and my husband are usually around if he needs anything or if he's lonely. He's been the Best 'abuelo' (Grandpa in Spanish) that Chato could have because he's helped Chato become a good man and a good person.

Everyone have a Great 4th of July!

Love,
Mercedes
