You're saying that he shouldn't even listen to their concerns so that something even better could be worked out which would be beneficial to all. You're saying that he should just ignore half the population and take a my-way-or-the-highway approach. That's not a President, that's a dictator. Obama is not a dictator.

Sorry to break this to you, and to the Republicans, but Obama is the President to Republicans too, just like Bush was the President to the Democrats as well. To not recognize this is to look on the voters who elect the President with contempt, essentially to say that their votes are to be disregarded if you don't agree with them.
