In 2006, Hugo Chavez imagined the price of oil would go up to $100 a barrel (it's now $110 a barrel folks) and offered a deal to Bush to sell oil for $50 a barrel (the price of oil was $75 a barrel at the time) providing that this would be a long term agreed price (to keep production of petroleum from crude oil profitable) but Bush told him where to shove it.

Less than two years later and oil is costing the US $110 a barrel when it could have been costing them less than half that.

It's all in this interview:-

So some suckup fawns over Chavez, who cares--Chavez is an oil pimp who knows the current high price is the only reason he is relevant (NT)Model your government after Castro--that's a good planMon, March 24, 2008 7:07:14
Re: Chavez may be well loved by some in Venezuela, but the tens of thousands protesting his policies suggest to me he probably was fraudulently elected. But hey anyoneHappy DancerMon, March 24, 2008 7:24:26
I've noticed a disturbing trend by James M. of defending left wing dictators. Why do you do that, James? (NT)PoliticoMon, March 24, 2008 8:30:01
