In 1971, John List was considered a suspect in the DB Cooper hijacking. List's age, facial features, and build were similar to those described for the mysterious skyjacker. FBI agent Ralph Himmelsbach stated that List was a "viable suspect" in the case. Cooper parachuted from the hijacked airliner with $200,000, the same amount List had used up from his mother's bank account in the days before the killing. Since being captured and sent to prison in 1989, List has strenuously denied being Cooper, and the FBI no longer considers him a suspect (NT) -- >, March 24, 2008, 12:17:51pm

Today's (Monday, March 24) PHOTO: Norma Shearer, who earned the Academy Award for 'Best Actress' in 1930's "The Divorcee". ...Sadly, she was widowed at the early age of 34, when her beloved husband, 'MGM #2 man' Irving Thalberg died of pneumonia, after a series of heart attacks, at 37. Shearer married again in Summer 1942, to a man of 20 ! ...They stayed wed for 40 years, until Shearer's own death of pneumonia at the Actor's Home in California, on June 12, 1983, at age 80. Both her children with Thalberg, have since died of cancer. (NT) the Chronicler March 24, 2008, 01:27:15am

Shearer was one of the rare stars of the era (like Luise Rainer), that is forgotten by name, to the newer generations! This is such a pretty photo of her. And she aged so gracefully too. Sad that some "idiot" aka Pia Zadora tore down her beloved PickFair. (NT) -- I hate modernization., March 21, 2008, 11:28:10pm
My understanding of 'Pickfair' and its fate, was that Pia tried to save it, initially. But Pickford literally did almost nothing to keep up the wood mansion, for the nearly 50 years she lived there. She was holed-up in her ivory tower for decades, 'away' from the world by the loving husband Buddy Rogers, with protection. The underlined story is that Pickford was very neurotic in those last years, and let little be touched in her home. He cut 'troubling' articles out of her newspapers. After her death, Rogers sold it to Lakers owner jerry Buss, and HE sold it to Zadora and hubby Riklis. Odd ... -- the Chronicler, March 22, 2008, 12:09:30am
