Much of the limited success of the surge has been dependent on him. By the way, Zarqawi survived the two 500lb bomb air strike though someone announced that a mother and child were amongst those that did not. It was later claimed to a be a mistake and that the child had really been a teenage girl above the age of 15 killed along with two other females and two males. Zarqawi died much later as a result of trying to escape after having been captured.
