(Troy, MI) -- The husband of Michigan Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow has been caught in a prostitution ring.
"DetroitNews.com" reports that Thomas Athans, co-founder and former CEO of the liberal-progressive Democracy Radio was nabbed in February by a Troy, Michigan police sting aimed at catching prostitutes.
Police allege that Athans paid 150-dollars for sex at a local hotel but was not arrested.
The police report says officers observed Athans entering a room that was under surveillance and leaving 15 minutes later.
Athans was executive vice president of Air America, which filed for bankruptcy in 2006.
He has also served on staff in both the Senate and House of Representatives.
Neither the 46-year-old Athans nor Stabenow could be reached for comment.
The Michigan Senator issued a statement calling the incident quote, "very disturbing and serious and obviously a deeply difficult and personal matter."
