Subject: Re: I agree. I didn't think the post was idiotic, just a bit unrealistic. People who have high speed connections don't know what won't load on dial-up. My suggestion was made in peace, not as a put-down

In reply to: Many people do not have high-speed 's message, "To call that post the most idiotic is in itself an idiotic call. There are many other posts here that have been far more idiotic. Also, high-speed is not available in some areas of the country." on Tue, February 12, 2008 5:09:23

I am BARELY in range to get DSL, I'd have done without internet before I'd have gone back to dial-up, because it's so slow. Telling somebody to get a better computer or a better connection is stupid and insensitive. If it's the computer - if they needed a better one and could afford it, they'd get it. Don't tell them to do something you have no idea if it's feasible or needed. If it's the connection - maybe dial-up is all that's available in their area - some place ARE still too remote for anything higher, you know. (Not all people who get cable TV can get cable internet because of their location, did you know that? I didn't until a relative found out from her cable company.) Or maybe dial-up is all they can afford. Not everybody here is well-to-do, and the low cost of dial-up can keep them in touch, just not as quickly.

So cut them some slack.
