Subject: A Rough Night

Mayria was homesick.

The neatly made little bed was nice, but it was not her own. Kayla seemed unaware that it was Mayria with whom she would be sharing quarters-at least for now.

Mayria had just seen the girl leave. She was in the taproom of the inn, ordering a dinner. She didn't want to eat it, really, but she had been too excited for breakfast. Logically, she should be willing to eat the Inn's wallpaper by now.

Dinner, when it came, was duck and oranges, with some potatoes and greens. It was not an exotic dish to Mayria-she had eaten it often in Arad Doman. It was tasty. But for all the interest Mayria put into her food, it might as well have been glue.

She wanted to go home.
