The suggestion is good. I used to collect seeds of trees like curry leaves, neem to help raise trees. Some of them are growing in and around my colony. Predators are goats, stray cattle which are a problem in crowded India. Tree shelters help. New Delhi switched to lead free gasoline. Public transportation is now mostly run on CNG as fuel for buses, and taxis and auto rickshaws (featured in a James Bond film Octopussy). Govt is trying to use ethanol as octane improver as against the present use of carcinogenic additive which has replaced tetra ethyl lead. However it is not available in plenty as it finds a good market as liquor in the huge market. I am working in a company who have a recovery technology, which will give clean cellulose from lignocellulosic wastes like rice, wheat straws. This can help make paper, ethanol and also biodegradable plastics. Looking for V.C funds. need about $ 5 million.
The hydrocarbon emissions in Delhi are now more NOx due to use of CNG as fuel. We also have a beautiful metro rail with most modern technology slowly coming up.
So trees are not a bad idea. However when I grow mango saplings from the fruits I eat, the local gardeners under the Municipality who take care of trees on the road side do not like it since it seems to attract white ants and also children throw stones!
