A good idea, however it does need some refinement. Fruit trees along roadsides are a vector for the distribution of pests and diseases amoung fruit trees and crops in general. The trees would need to be planted in groups of species that break the network for individual pest species. Careful scientific thought would need to be applied before such plantings began.
