One enema in 9 years?! That is not anywhere near a constipation problem. You just have a normal child who had her system get a little out of sorts. I would not give her another enema until either she tells you that she's backed up or you have other evidence.

The post made by Joyce about kids being so different is very true. I have a 14 year old and a soon-to-be 16 year old. Both girls have bowels that lock up (as do mine) just before periods start. The 14 year old is a dream to enema. It's like her bottom just sucks in the soapy water. The older one is another story. It takes a lot of coaxing and encouragement to get an enema into her. I give both girls the same quantity (1 and 1/2 quarts). It's been, with the exception of the quantity given, the same situation since they were little girls getting bulb enemas. The older one just has a harder time with them than does her younger sister.
