To the people who are looking for a new dog,
I would just like to pass on some helpful information that was passed on to me before my fiance and I bought our dog.
I assume you don't want to support the breed of pitbull or rotweilwer dogs because you may have heard that they may attack / maul young children or turn on their owners?
I assure you that it is not always the case. ANY breed of dog can turn on anyone at ANYTIME. Usually the reason for a dogs agressive behavior change, is beatings or kickings as punishment from their owners. Usually if a dog is given enough love and attention they will be your best friend for life and get along with just about everybody.
I own a 6 month old rotweiler, and she is the most well mannered and affectionate dog I've ever known, -And I'm not just saying that because she's mine. To tell you the truth, she's not a very good watch dog, because she will only bark once or until she hears a friendly voice, then she will start sooking coz she wants cuddles!! (That's the way I've brought her up, not to attack everyone, but it does help that she is used to people!)
That's what rotties are like, they are mean looking on the outside and big sooks on the inside!!
So, before you choose the right dog for you, just remember that If you give your dog lots of love, affection and attention, and excercise, he / she will have a great personality. It all depends on what YOU are looking for in a dog, but please don't rule out Rotties!!

- From a 21yr old Rotti lover.
