She did not necessarily expect her children to accept Ezmerelda as their mother, but at least she knew Ezmerelda would help to protect them. At this point, that was all that mattered to Fate. Lime ooids peered into those of her daughter, the vixen sighing softly.

Yes, other's have disobeyed my God as well dear one. But this clutch is not the first clutch I have birthed through law breaking. I am to suffer for two clutches that never should have been born. I could live if I chose, but I would still have to be punished. In other words, I have a choice. I can give up my life, or I can offer you, my children, to save myself. I will not do that.

Her children would all understand in due time. They were intelligent at their young age, but they were still young. They were new to this world and understood little of it. Perhaps one day, they could all understand everything. Perhaps even understand why she had done what she had, and why she must do what she chose to do now...
