(He nodded, smiling a little.) We just decided it was easier to be friends. (He and Karlie had had too much fun together, and the just didn't have the chemistry to make a relationship work. He had always felt protective of her though.. but apparantly he wasn't fool proof. He sighed, remembering the guilt he had been feeling the night before.. the guilt over letting her get this abortion.. the same guilt that had driven him to get high that afternoon.) No, I am an ass.. just not consistently. (He winked back, reaching into his pocket to shut off the phone so it wouldnt ring.. he didn't to set her off when she was in a good mood.)
