Subject: Choosing...

The boy entered, for once in front of his bond, who trailed a few feet behind. The huge red ambled along peacefully, yawning periodically, his reserves of energy sapped by the emotionally and physical tax of hatching. Zane smiled softly at the picture the exhausted dracling made; lids half closed over twin pools of golden sunlight, wings drooping slightly, fur like living fire in the lamplight. -Lome? Do you want to choose our quarters?- The youngster rumbled assent, and headed for a random door. This one. Although he was slightly surprised at the dragon's quick choice, Zane tapped on the door to make sure it wasn't occupied, then peeked in.Hmm...Even if it was a fast one, Lome made a good choice. The boy mused to himself, momentarily forgetting that his dragon could hear his thoughts. I heard that, buddy boy, The dragonet commented dryly, but lovingly headbutted his bond's thigh.You don't think I would make a bad choice for our home? Lome's tone was lightly teasing now, so Zane didn�t bother to reply as he crossed the threshold into the pair's new home. It was true, it was a nice place. The room as huge, big enough for even a white, and yet managed to retain a cozy feel. A large depression in the ground was dusted with sand, obviously meant to be Lome�s bed. Beside it was a bed, complete with sheets and heavy fur cover, made for the dragon�s human counterpart. Beyond the sleeping spaces was the �living room� area. It was a comfy space, designed more for the human half of the pair. Two stuffed fur armchairs rose off the floor like furry mushrooms. They were strategically placed to catch the warmth of the huge fireplace they faced. Behind the fluffy chair area, a small table stood, flanked by two wooden chairs, for the occasional time every �rider gets tired of eating in the communal area. Zane also noticed that spiders had made their homes in many places, but for now, the place was perfect. He wandered to his bed, where Lome had already curled up. -Hey! No hogging my bed!- Zane pouted, then laughed as his dragon rumbled sleepily, standing and moving to the foot of the bed, flopping down again with a sigh. -Thanks, Lome. I love you.- The boy directed the thought to his bond through a large yawn, pulling the covers up over him, thinking once again how lucky he was to have bonded with the mammoth red.
