Alinoth finally arrives, panting.

You cheated, Akale. I said no flying.

Don't change the subject. sighs You're always hungry. I guess I'm hungry too.

Looks up and is startled to see a waitress.
'Could I have some meat for Akale and a chicken sandwich for myself? Thanks.'

Sits and tickles Akale for a while, until the waitress returns with their food.

'Thankyou.'

There you go, you little terror.
Can we go flying today?
Maybe later, Akale. But I tell you what, even if we don't go flying, I'll give you a good bath, hows about that?

I'm not really sad, just ... lonely. For a friend.
Aren't I your friend?
Yes, of course you are. I'm lonely for a human friend. I grew up in a place where there were always lots of people, and they all, and I mean vereyone, knew you. Here, its different. I mean there's lots of people, but I don't know any, and the few I do know are only chance meetings, so I can't really call them real friends.
Then why don't you go back?
Because I can't. Into Akale's mind she shows what happened to her town.
A landslide covered the whole town. I was in the fields, herding in the last goats for the winter supplies, so I was spared.
How did it happen?
Alinoth holds her head in her hands. There was a snowstorn the day before, and large amounts of snow had frozen on the cliff behind the town that was meant to protect us. A slight thaw the day that it happened meant that the snow had not enough grip to stay on the cliff, but was not warm enough to turn into relatively harmless sludge.
So you are sad. The dragon lays a clawed hand on her bondmate's arm.
