The tall woman's hood is masking all but her chin, a slice of mouth, and the bottom of the black scar slicing thorugh her left eye. Her head slowly turns up to face Cat. A smirk curves her thin lips the barest fraction. Kain gets to her feet slowly-- or really, the balls of her feet-- balancing upon the huge blades fastened to the front. The grizzled rider gazes down at the fearless girl, annoyance barely staining her eye. A gloved hand lifts to push the hood from her vision, so Cat could meet her one-eyed gaze. The woman narrows her left orb, black as death with a bare silver slit for a pupil, like a dream's gate. More a nightmare's gate, now. Her low, rough voice is steel shrouded by emotionlessness.

"What is it to you? Mercenaries have their ways. I suggest you leave me alone, child, if you do not wish to be injured."

Her arm lifts and curves, grasping the haft of the huge polescythe slanted across her back. In that motion, her cloak ripples in such a way to reveal a two-foot dagger, more a butcher's knife with a handguard.
