 My daughter was injured like that at age 12 and ended up having orthoscopic surgery. She had a piece of tissue that kept getting lodged beside the kneecap. The doctor said the piece of tissue could have been there for years or the fall may have caused it. They removed it and she has been fine ever since. She is now 16. First and foremost I would recommend that if it continues more than a month or so, I would see a specialist who does knees only. That is the one who found her problem.
