Hi
Also I still take my temp rectally and enhoy itn but I use modern digital thermometers. I have no experience with vaginal temp, but I think the procedure must be fairly the same, but one must provide the thermometer is absolute sterile, which is not so important with rectal temp.
The woman or girl must have the leg somewhat spread. Then use one hand to open the great lips and stretch so much that also the smaller lips are spread, between the smaller lips you will find the vaginal opening just beneath the urinaty opening.
I guess you need a thermometer with a long tip, and many modern digital thermometers are constructed so that they are suited also for vaginal temp. For a girl with still intact hymen, one mist find the hole in the mid of the hymen and gently put the thermometer rip through. Alternatively, one can let the thermometer lie in the chamber between the small lips and close the lips around the thermometer.
Just like rectal temp is a conveniant way of checking the rectal region on a person that is sick, vaginal temp would serve the same purpose for the genital area of girls and women.
When a young girl is sick, it is absolutely necessary to daily check her vaginal area, as well as the rectal area to detect symptoms that could signal something serious. And of cource the same is true about the genital and rectal area of young boys, and such a check can save the life of a child.
To take tempersture vaginally, would be the best way of checking a girl for symptoms, actually, but I think the society will tend to call it sexual abuse. Opening the labia and looking should however be done, for the best of the child.
