Hi,
I can understand not thinking an enema is embarrassing way back when. Many medical procedures were done on mass scales, in schools ,etc. My original posting referred mainly to shots. I think the difference there, is that the kid receiving a shot is sure to display a great amount of pain and probably scream or cry. That is particularly embarrassing to a boy who wants to maintain his self esteem and not look like, pardon the term, a sissy. If word got out to his friends at school that he had screamed and cried, he would most definately be subject to endless ribbing from his friends. Girls on the other hand, are more known to display any emotions they want. A/K/A, a girl can easily cry at a sad movie. Try being a boy 16 and cry at a movie? It may not be a bad thing in a technical sense but realistically, it wont go over well...
So that was the focus of my original posting. I found it extremely degrading, while being pushed to be the man in the family, being brought to tears during a shot; only to be witnessed by my entire family. Also, they seemed to find it funny because many of the family members laughed or joked while I was terrified crying.....to add insult to injury, my entire family would "slowly" count to 3. This made my anxiety level shoot off the scale.....
I hope I made sense...LOL
