It's funny how things go sometimes. When I started posting in the Buffy fandom on the C&S I was a Spike fan and a Spuffy 'shipper (well I discovered I was a 'shipper then I had no idea that new species existed before!). I was also the only French and I was very nervous about posting in English. It took me 6 months to dare it.
Years passed by and I kept posting because it was fun, because writing English became easier and easier, because discussing the show was important to me, because I got attached to many boardies and even to the place where I posted (I know I'm just a sap like that!).
Some of them I got to meet in person, others I don't but when all is said and done, the fandom people with whom I'm still in touch in one way or another aren't necessarily the ones with whom "I sided". There are some Spuffy supporters of course, but it isn't the majority. A few don't even like Spike that much!
It means that beyond our differences, Buffy-wise, we did connect through something else.
I believe it was a matter of common sense, because we loved that incerdible tv show that Joss created and because we saw the human being behind the fan.
Now I must face that bloody verification thing again!!!
The reason you became friends with people who are not Spuffies is because some of us saw beyond the show and knew it was a TV show and that we were actually talking to people...and or we saw something in them we liked despite the bad taste we may believe they had..the show bought a whole lot of people together and we can't like everyone...but we should be able to see the person behind the made up name posting away
For me its simple..critique and negativity are not the same thing..thats why we have 2 different words to describe them..we can say it negative critiuqe fro example but its still critique..I went over to that board and seriously anyone who doesn't think Joss is amazingly talented because they happen not to like the storyline shows a level of self importance that only the truely I have no self esteem ever achieve...not liking and it not being able to say I don't like it but I can see why others do despite the fact we may not like th storyline is not the same thing
I an't the biggest Spuffy fan in the world but I thoght it was necessary to the progression of the character of buffy and indeed Spike..Buffy had to learn that part of herself was there but its not who she really is..we all have a darker side and we get to know it as we grow..which is what Buffy did with Spike..but that is a very small part of who she really is..and to stay in that dark place was destroying her so this is what she learnt from Spike
Spike in turn learned he didn't want to be a monster with limited impulse control and so he did something about it the result was he did something noble because it was the right thing to do and not for self gratification

I went there I posted..silveragent was always a paranoid nutcase btw..I don't get people who kept watching and now read the cpmic when they hated the show as much as he did..he just really hates himself IMO and takes it out on others..not to mention he is a xenophobic sexist asshole
silveragent uses the board as a group therapy. The problem is that his negative posts have become an excuse for other unsatisfied viewers to rant away over and over while there's no longer any post saying positive things about the Buffyverse.
I've lived in denial for months concerning the C&S but now I believe it's a lost cause. I don't want to go back there, watching the comments yesterday upset me enough, I can't look at the page, but I bet you spoke your mind.
Thanks for stepping in, even though you probably didn't do it for me only but also for the good old times's sake. You're a bit like Darla who heard the nasty monsters behind the door in that horrible motel and could not rest in peace for she believed I might have been in danger! :- )

Damn I will miss parsing Buffy, seeking connections and debating with other viewers who knew the show very well. It was fun, in a geek-intellectual-kind-of-way but fun nonetheless. :-(

and I was such a sensation Angel X turned up to do the honors..I felt like I was in the way back time machine..I hadn't been deleted for a long time
I completely understand..why do something that upsets you..life is difficult enough without something that should be enjoyable be upsetting
They have a thread in which they claim you will come back because you love the board so much but I don't think you will I think you are done but anytime you wanna discuss the show I'll be happy to say you are wrong : )
I peeked and noticed that people who haven't posted in ages suddenly showed up and wanted to save that board! It couldn't be funnier...or sadder.
Anyway I won't come back. I stayed and kept posting when so many of my friends had left over the years. When I say I leave, I leave for good. I'm just radical like that. Must be my Meditteranean genes...or a French thing.

It looks like folks who "hadn't posted in ages" would be AngelX, me and Lij.
If anyone else has, it wasn't in response to a lot of deleted stuff yesterday. Unless they were deleted too, I guess.
I've never waivered on why I left as a poster on that board.
I didn't like the deletions/censorship and the rules that seemed to apply to some people but not to all.
I have always enjoyed reading it, on a fairly regular basis up until this day. And you were a huge part of that, Chani.
When I saw that you had posted a thread about the negativity and then it snowballed into other stuff with silveragent and the crew...and then someone had posted a thread as a board moderator asking "Should this board be deleted?" I decided then was as good a time as any to respond before things ended. I didn't intend to try and save the board as a long lost poster. I was trying to say why it meant a lot to me and hoped some would come out and do that too.
If that's sad, so be it.

Nope you weren't the only ones. Actually I wasn't even thinking of you. Most of the people who showed up on the board on Friday or yesterday and who started thread or were suddenly evrey active, apart for those who were involved in the lastest negative thread, haven't posted in months or years and have basically done nothing to keep the board alive or positive.
Sorry if I sound bitter.
But if it was an electroshock and those who woke up kept posting from now on, good for the board.

to be so great that I could get Angel X to actually turn up..I didn't post under my usual board name there and I don't know why..I guess its just because Gadget seems like another person now..or some weird crap like that anyway twas my pleausre..
I don't go over there that often but when I did it was always some person whining about the show and saying Joss was untalented or some crap like that ..how vain is it to say???? I didn't like it therefore the person has no talent (or something close to that)..not liking something doesn't mean the person has no talent..
for example I hated Friends with the firey passion of a 1000 suns but I'd never say that means the writers, directors or actors had no talent or something like that it just means I didn't like it and beause I didn't like it I never watched it..I know how odd is that not watching what you don't like
I didn't figure you'd be back but I left that question up to their own deluded fantasy and let it be..what I do know is they killed that board for sure now..you were the only one who keeping it going really..I know others post there but they have nothing to say other then the same stuff every single day..anyways best be done with it if it is causing you to be upset
