I haven't read the message boards much before the playoffs, but it shocks me how many of you want to get rid of Jeff Garcia.

Of the QB's in the playoffs how many are truly better than Jeff Garcia?

Brett Favre - Yes

Donovan McNabb - Yes

Rich Gannon - Yes

Steve McNair - Maybe, but Garcia isn't as injury prone as he is.

Michael Vick - Not yet. He still is an inconsistent passer.

Chad Pennington - Not yet. Garcia looked better against the Raiders than he did.

Peyton Manning - No, he's too mechanical and he has done any thing in the playoffs

Tommy Maddox - No

Tim Couch or Kelly Holcomb - No

Kerry Collins - No

Brad Johnson - No

And let's not even mention giving up Jeff Garcia for Jake Plummer or Brian Griese or how Cade McNown or Tim Rattay are just as good.

I know most of you expect every 49ers QB to perform like Joe Montana, but that isn't going to happen again. I had these same feelings towards Steve Young when he kept getting beat by Dallas in the championship game, but he eventually won a Super Bowl and I think if the 49ers can surround him with more talent, Jeff Garcia can do the same.

The fact is that we have a pretty damn good QB that has put up the some great numbers despite having only one consistent receiver.
