All wars have their attrocoties. The Rape of Nanking by Japanese soldiers stands out as a perticularly sordid chapter in human barbarity. Hitler's death camps are another.

Everyone considers the bombing of Hiroshima unjust. Yet, few people, except the Germans, seem to consider the firebombing of Dresdan to be unjustified. ALthough it did not take one bomb, as many Germans died at Dresden from the
Allied firebombing, as died at Hiroshima.

Sure, it took 48 hours of round the clock boming for the Allies to kill as many people in Dresden as were killed at Hiroshima. Yet, it seems, no one cares that as many as 135,000 Germans died. Perhaps the German lives lost at Dresden are worth less than the Japanese lives lost at Hiroshima, and because the German lives are worth less, n one considers Dresden to be an eqaully unjustified and an equally horrible act as the atom bombing of Hiroshima..

Can one even begin to imagine the terror of the Dresden bombing? At least the vitcims of Hiroshima didn't suffer terror. They didn't feel themselves burn alive. They were incinerated in an instant.
