She attempted to speak through the hiccups that frequently stole away her lungs. "Kosses...no...he...no..." her eyes were wide, as a dear in headlights, and she shook her head in Alairic's direction. She held no emotion for him, but sympathy, for her exhuming a crime committed so long ago. Her brain seemed to be running the world in slow motion, but clearer than ever; but as if her body was her prison, it prevented her from expressing her emotions quick enough, fast enough. She squeezed the infant's hands tightly, but her hands were shaking feverishly and she chose to pull grip her hankerchief with a white knuckle instead, struggling over choice words, if any.
