"Attention!" she calls, her voice somehow carrying even to the apprentices' quarters. "Let's get started. As I said, I am Jaide. I run this school, and things will be run my way, because I don't want to have to pick up what's left of your corpse, or have to have you Slayed because you're vampyric. So, you follow my rules, or you leave the Covenstead. Here goes:" she said, writing these on parchment paper to be posted. "First: you are all apprentices and will be considered as such until you have earned the rank of Witch. Second: No apprentice may enter the Red District for any reason whatsoever. Should need arise, contact me, and I might consider chancing it or sending one of the Witches. The Blue District is forbidden as well, though an apprentice may enter in the company of at least one Witch. Third: there is to be no summoning, calling, exorcising, contacting, or otherwise meddling with anything unless under direct supervision. Don't even get me started on that one," she continued, her voice dead serious. "Now, with that behind us, let us begin: first, your names. Two have already introduced themselves to some extent."
