Curiouser and curiouser (long, and possible mega-spoiler, but I'm a skeptic...)

Hi everyone:

I don't know how deep into the spoiler trade you all are and whether, like me, you visit several boards to get their input. But anyone who's read spoilerslayer lately has heard about the anonymous informant at the Kitten Board, Ed the Spoiler.

I'm not sure why Tensai isn't reporting this right now -- my instinct is he and a number of other people are trying to check this out. But if you go to the Kitten spoiler board now, you can find a picture which (ostensibly) is from Ed, who claims to work for a special effects company that did some work for the last four eps of this season. (I don't feel comfortable posting a direct link, but if you email me -- iago389@hotmail.com -- I will happily send you info on how to see the pic for yourself.) In case you didn't know, Ed is a strong proponent of the "reset" theory for the season's end.

The picture is, of course, of a female hand drifting up to a distinctly Vengeance-Demon-like amulet. The Kittens are not really discussing this picture, because they've had a bit of a credibility problem with Ed lately revolving around the way he distributed this picture (story is too long to be related here but you can check out the Kitten Spoiler Thread for more info). I can understand them not wanting to feed his fire in the event that he actually is a hoax. I would post this there but I wanted to keep it away from places Ed reads.

But having spent my day procrastinating from the theology paper I have due on Monday, and perusing some Buffy screencaps from The Wish, Dopplegangland and Older and Far Away, I'm becoming more and more convinced that if Ed is a trickster, he's got an extraordinary amount of time on his hands.

Some things I've noticed:

- The amulet does not look like Anya's original amulet from Season 3 (which had a diamond/square shape, and a greenish stone), but it does bear a strong resemblance to Halfrek's, although it is not clearly identical to that one either. It's oval-shaped, and red. I suppose there's no particular reason why Anya's new amulet would have to look like the old one, particularly if the show has changed art directors and the old model isn't around after it was smashed in The Wish...

- The outfit the woman wearing the amulet has on is unlike anything I've ever remembered seeing on Buffy.

- The picture is letterboxed. I don't know what this means. My partner, who is a former child actor, claims that he's heard of shows being shot in a different perspective than they are aired in. The other possibility that I came up with is that if this picture is legit, it just might be from the season finale, which might be letterboxed.

Of course, none of this will be resolved until the episode airs, but thought I would pass it along to my new favourite Buffy community...
