Subject: Alas, moral relativism in UBF

Unreformed UBF leaders find it increasingly difficult to deny the corruption in UBF. Only the really young and gullible hold to the line, "it is all lies and false slander" (Isn't "false slander" a contradiction that would make it "truth"?) So, they have resulted to the moral relativism and rationalization that they so vehemently decried in the past when analyzing the sins of American young peopel. How many times have I heard a missionary say to me, "Oh! You must obey God's word ABSOLUTELY!" But now we hear people even say that we must not rely on God's word. Rather, they say that it is OK because God used SL to start a great ministry. (I would argue with this since in many ways he seems to have hindered God's work. Besides Sarah Barry started UBF.) They say, "all leaders have weaknesses." Thus sneakily lumping in beatings, lies, and abusive authority that has led to real harm with less problematic "weaknesses". Suddenly, I see UBF doing an about face, turning away from God's word and instead putting their faith and trust in a person and human rationalization. How sad!

Clearly, if UBF does not reform it will become useless as a spiritual force. All the spiritual authority of God's word and God's spirit continue to pour out of its self-inflicted wounds. It has allowed itself to be bled-white so that it's very life-blood of faith in God's word has gone. For some time it has ceased to be an effective force because of the collapse of moral and spiritual authority which is now so evident.
How can you teach the Bible to students and challenge them to live in the truth when you know that your leaders are living in terrible lies? You will not be able to no matter what you say.

What can be done? UBF and its leaders must do what it has challenged American college students to do in the past. That is it must come back to God's word and obey ALL of it absolutely. All the leaders must confess their sins of spiritual pride, arrogance, and indifference to the leaders sins. Followers must confess their passive spirit that has allowed their leaders to continue in sin. Most of all, each must reaffirm the Gospel, confess their sins and repent newly putting their faith in Jesus, his blood, his death and resurrection. This is the only way UBF can be purified. If not, it will only continue down the road of moral relativism and it will have no power because it has shown extreme weakness in dealing with its own house.

Until UBF puts its own house in order, it will not be able to help others do the same.
