I have been reading this website for some time now and have a question for Korean UBF leaders. Because I am confused about what I am told and what I've been hearing on this site. Who actually supports World Mission? Does any of the support come from Chicago. Are you saying that Chicago World Mission collected each Sunday NEVER goes to any missionaries (outside of Chicago)or the mission field. I understand money even comes from other USA Chapters, I always assumed the money would then go to Korea to be disperesed or chicago would send it out. Are you saying it is not.

Sorry for my impertinence in advance. Chicago UBF collects, or rather extracts, something called the World Mission Offering each month from employeed members. This offering is generally a monthly tithe, or in the case of some people, a tithe x2 or x3. I guess some part of this large sum of money goes to "world mission," whatever that entails, because after all, it is called the "World Mission Offering." Samuel Lee has stated recently that Chicago UBF money is split out thus: 50% world mission, 25% relief work (charity), 25% church maintenance (pays the bills). Sure sounds good, except I can't name any relief organizations we've given to since World Vision in the mid-80's. Recently, much money was collected for supposed relief for the victims of American bombings in Yugoslavia. But somehow that fell through, so then the money was supposed to be redirected to lepers in North Korea being ministered to by some American Missionary. Samuel Lee even hinted that he might take the money there himself so it
wouldn't
fall into the wrong hands. But obviously, he didn't go, and I didn't hear what happened to that large > sum of money which no one seemed to want. What I do know is this: Two expensive trips to Europe and Russia were made since then. There's only one way to resolve all these questions and doubts. Let's open those books and ledgers. Whoops. We can't do that, can we?

Those who were invited to attend the conferences, I heard, had to pay $1000 for each one, plus instructed to give an offering of $100 in Europe, and $200 offering in Russia.
