Subject: Impact of this site

I've read of at least two people stating their intention to leave UBF due to what they've found out here. One was Blessed Scarlet. I've also heard of two or three Northeastern Illinois U. students who also left UBF after visiting this site. I probably knew some of them, and they may have been friends, but I am glad for them. I hope they don't lose their young faith because of what they experienced in Chicago UBF. Has this site caused any more departures from Chicago UBF that people have heard of? Someone reports that Emily Wexler, the shepherdess from New Jersey, "ran away" this past weekend. Might her departure been related to this site?

I have to say that all these things I have read about are nothing new. I think most people who have been in UBF for a while know that things like what are mentioned here go on. However, this site convinced me of what I knew all along. On that basis, it tipped the balance in my leaving. I cannot say it was just the reform movement, or just this site, but rather it is the big picture of my experiences throughout the years here.

I love many aspects of UBF and I love many of the people. However, I am no longer willing to sell my soul to it. I will reserve that to Christ alone and work my life of faith out in a church that has freedom to openly and seriously discuss its shortcomings.
