As a part of UBF, once finding this site, I was both excited and appalled. Excited because I am a very liberal person, open to change and new ideas, and appalled that I could read about very personal and controversial issues. Let me make a couple comments about how I view reformer's opinions... Perhaps your main problem is that people in UBF have been looking to Dr. Samual Lee as a spiritual leader, following orders absolutely as if they were from God himself, without really questioning whether they were the best course of action, and that M. Samual Lee has abused this leadership and quite frankly is not spiritually fit to serve this position, because he is questionably an immoral person. I don't think I found one good thing about M. Samual Lee's present condition. This either means that you don't know him very well, he really is what you say, or you are only showing the bad sides of him for reform's sake(or is there another course?). Do you think he just may be getting an unfair treatment? Perhaps you are
taking an unfair advantage of one person (or several) in order to spark reform. End justifying the means. I think you are taking a wrong approach. Whether you like it or not, a sense of division is taking place rather than cooperation. It is an us vs. them scenario. But maybe UBF set itself up for this? In any circumstance, I think a trust has been broken. I do not personally know about M. Samual Lee, but I will take your word about a lot that went on. He broke a trust, but you also broke a trust. When you lose trust, there is a strong feeling of disrespect and not getting what one is capable or deserving. A parent can have this distrust for a teenager and leave the not-so-humble teenager so angry and frustrated. What's missing is communication and understanding. I have not yet figured out the best course of action on how to deal with irrational people the best way ( I do not know if M. Samual Lee is irrational or not) but I know it is difficult. Let me demonstrate what strong feelings can do... Even though
so much evidence supports evolution, Christians put hope in the criticisms, trust God rather than evidence. There comes many times when feelings overcome reason.

OK, I will come to a conclusion. My thoughts are that reform should take place and in place of one person being a head honcho, there should be a diverse committee of capable people, so that more dialogue can be established, otherwise if dispute arises again, there will not be one person who dictates what is right or wrong. Oh boy, nothing is this simple, but with capable minds and the heart of God there is hope. For now, I think we should all just listen to each other and not be so gung ho. Listen to M. Samual Lee, what he has to say, as a start, but don't give up on what you think is best, just do it out of sincere love and with understanding and feelings for others.

Dear Paine, I agree with almost everything you say. However, you said "listen to Samuel Lee" first. However, I believe he has not said anything other than that the reformers were rebellious, political people. What attempts has he made to address issues privately, that is before they were made public by the reform comittee. So far, I have not heard him acknowledge or talk about anything.
So, how do you handle that?


More than anything, I want to see a more Biblical and democratic spirit among UBF people. If Sam and the top leaders will not even acknowledge that there is a problem how does one start other than by making the issues public?
