.:.A soul-wrenching song spilled delicately from the maiden's mouth as she sat in the cool shade beneath a willow tree. The song had no words and no words were needed.
Seven months with child, Adelina's stomach was quite large. The tune grew happier as she felt her precious child stir within her. But then melted down into sorrow as she thought of her dead husband. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't shake the feeling of aloneness... even with her new friends Mayleena and Jade and the promise of her child to be born soon.
She stopped singing though the song was truly without end. It had been passed down to her by her mother, who was a unicorn. Adelina remembered her mother singing it and her human father holding her close.
The maiden shook the memories away and with great effort, she stood and slowly made her way to the waters for a drink. Small tasks were getting harder now. Her ankles sometimes were swollen and she was feeling tired all the time. It seemed that her morning sickness had stopped today but suddenly the maiden covered her mouth and lost what little breakfast she had eaten in behind some bushes.:.
