As you approach the track, there is a georgeous blue-roan colt breezing along the backstretch. Leaning on the rail, you watch as he switches legs on the home turn and powers down the straight. After he flashes past the post, his rider stands up to slow the colt down. The colt tosses his head as the rider turns him back towards the gap. Shannon, who was standing next to you with a stopwatch in hand, grins and rubs the colts star. 'Good boy, Sky War! And you're not even winded are you?' Smiles as he tosses his head again, then prances sideways. The rider dismounts and leads the colt back to the barn and Shannon turns to you after writing the time on her clipboard. 'That was a great run, wasn't it? Well, this is the Training Track, where all my babies are prepped for the races. I only race my Thoroughbreds, they aren't used for anything else. Feel free to gallop your horse, even if it isn't a racehorse. Because this track is turf, it's a good surface to gallop on to get eventers fit. Just make sure that you gallop when the other horses are out of the way!' Grins and laughs. 'Anyway, there goes My Little Secret. Feel free to stay and watch, or go and get your own horse to gallop.' Picks up her stopwatch and concentrates on the chestnut filly as she begins her warmups.
