It hovered as if walking on air. It was enormous; at least four times the size of the largest Clydesdale. Yet it's size was the least of its horrid features. The beast tossed its massive head, which almost resembled a lion with a flowing mane and sharp teeth. Flames and thick yellow smoke shot out of its mouth and nostrils. But not a thing could be heard. No hoof beats or snorting or any sound. The black horse was frightening enough to distract one's attention from its rider. He was every bit as large as his beast. He looked human but was at least twenty feet tall and one thousand pounds. He wore a shimmering black breastplate. A cloak covered his head and plumes out behind him. His biceps and forearms rippled with muscles as he worked to control the enormous horse. The beast looked like it would stampede at any moment. The rider’s face turned upon the valley. It was dark, like a bottomless pit. The horse reared and thrashed its hooves in the air. Fire shot from its nostrils and soared over the trees. The fire fell like molten lava on the ground, burning a few trees and bushes. The rider pulled at the chains that served as reins, jerking the beast’s head back sharply. The stallion’s mouth opened as if screaming. But an eerie shadow and silence cloaked the valley. The Dark Master scanned the valley once more, lips curving in a wicked smile, hidden in the shadow of his cloak. Snapping the chains, he urged his mount in the opposite direction. The beast reared and thrashed flaming, blood red hooves as he made the sharp turn. Another strike of chain sent the demonlike beast and his rider galloping over the treetops, toward another land.
